Múltiples ventajas de la lectura compartida en el hogar / Multiple benefits of Home Shared Reading

Distintos estudios han demostrado que la lectura compartida en el hogar favorece el desarrollo de habilidades léxicas, semánticas, comprensivas y socioemocionales de los niños en su etapa escolar. A su vez, se han estudiado las transferencias entre la lengua materna y la no materna. El objetivo central de este artículo es observar si entre los múltiples beneficios de la lectura compartida en lengua materna se encuentra también un efecto en las destrezas lectoras de una lengua extranjera. En este estudio exploratorio han participado 64 estudiantes de 1º y 2º de primaria. Mediante entrevista semi-estructurada, los padres dieron a conocer los hábitos lectores de sus hijos durante la etapa de Educación Infantil. Los resultados apuntan a que aquellos estudiantes preescolares que practicaron lectura compartida en el hogar presentan mejores habilidades lingüísticas en lengua materna y lengua extranjera en primer el ciclo de primaria.
Abstract: Different studies have shown that home shared reading encourages the development of lexical, semantical, comprehensive and social-emotional skills of young students. In turn, transferences between mother tongue and second languages have also been analyzed. The aim of this study is to observe if among the multiple benefits shared reading may have, there is also a positive impact on the foreign language students are learning. 64 students from the first and the second year of Primary Education have taken part in this exploratory study. Throughout a semi-structured interview, their parents informed about the reading habits of their children during Nursery and Preschool Education. The results show that those Preschoolers who carry out shared reading at home acquire better linguistic skills not only in their mother tongue but also in the foreign language at Primary level.
